11.2 Setting up your browser - important!
To enable you to log in to Business Collaborator using cookie authentication, you must check the
preferences set in your web browser. (If your IT department has restricted your permissions to change your web browser settings, you may need to contact them to assist you in making any necessary changes.) There are two settings which must be set correctly in order to permit you to use this method of authentication:
-
"cookies" must be enabled
-
the browser should not prompt before accepting cookies (otherwise you will have to click
"OK" many times every time you log in)
-
the time on your computer must be correct, otherwise cookies may expire before you can log in successfully
The way in which you set these preferences will depend on which browser you use.
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer (v5.0), you should:
-
open the "Tools" menu item "Internet Options"
-
click on the "Security" tab,
for the current zone and click on Custom Level
-
scroll down the list to look for options related to "cookies" and set them to "enable"
If you are using Netscape Navigator (v4.0), you should:
-
open the "Edit" menu item "Preferences"
-
click on the "Advanced" node and look for "cookies"
-
check that "Always accept cookies" is selected
-
check that "Warn me before accepting a cookie" is not selected
Remember that if you use more than one browser, you will need to check the preferences in each.
