17.6 Hiding review comments
If a reviewer makes an irresponsible or profane comment in a review, it may be necessary to prevent other users from seeing this comment until it has been revised. (The alternative would be to delete a review comment which could be seen as rewriting history and is therefore undesirable.)
Review comments may be hidden by the person who created the review. (There is no equivalent action for issues.) It is only possible to hide comments on a review which has already been commented on. To hide a user's comments, click on View/Change | Hide Comments on the Review page. The page will be refreshed with a new section at the bottom where you may select which user's comments should be hidden.
When you click "Done", the entry in the Complete column of the Responses section of the Review page will change to "No" for this user. This user's comments will no longer be visible to other users but the reviewer and the creator of the review will still be able to see them.
The Tasks related to this review will also reappear when you hide a user's comments. The user's attention will therefore be drawn to the fact that they have not yet completed this review.
Once the reviewer's comments have been revised to be acceptable, the person who created the review can click on View/Change | Hide Comments once more and uncheck the name of the user whose comments were previously hidden. Their comments will reappear in the Responses section of the Review page for those users from whom they had been hidden.
After a review has been closed - see section 17.7 - Closing a review - comments may no longer be hidden.
Hiding review comments leads to a had comments hidden by event on the review itself.
