18.2 Which database to use

The existing relational database tool set that comes with Business Collaborator is an entirely separate entity from the ODBC package and care should be taken not to confuse them.

Which one should you use? This very much depends upon what you are trying to do but the following checklists should help you select the right tool for the job in hand.

ODBC

• Large, scalable, quick
• The power of SQL for creating views
• Combine the output of many customised views in one HTML page

RDB

• Good for creating small databases quickly
• User friendly
• Ability to quickly transfer databases between Business Collaborator servers
