2.3 Reading documents
Now that you know how to move around the folder hierarchy, you will probably wish to read some of the documents you encounter. To read a document:
-
Click on the document's name (or the icon)
This will either open the document in the appropriate application or ask you whether you wish to open it or save it to your hard disk. Opening documents in this way is ideal for getting access to someone else's document quickly.
Section 3.2 discusses in depth how to read documents. Editing a document is introduced in section 2.4 and covered in more depth in section 3.3.
-
Note 1
-
If you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets etc. may open inside your web browser when you click on their name. If they do, simply click on the browser's "Back" button to return to Business Collaborator. If you close the application, you will actually be closing your web browser and so will need to open another browser to get back into Business Collaborator.
-
Note 2
-
Reading or editing a document generally requires you to have a copy of the appropriate application installed on your local computer. You will also require to download the entire document to your local computer before reading or editing it. If you do not have a suitable application installed, or you do not wish to download the document to read it, you may be able to use server-side viewing of the document. Server-side document viewing is a Business Collaborator server option and is discussed in Section 19 - Brava! integration.
