6.7 Changing a document’s type

Every document stored in Business Collaborator has a MIME type (format, e.g. MS Word or Adobe PDF) associated with it. This is indicated by the icon associated with the document. Usually, the MIME type is automatically specified when the document is uploaded (see section 3.1). If Business Collaborator does not recognise the MIME type, this will be indicated by the icon.

You may change the MIME type associated with a document by clicking  |  Change Type  and selecting a different type from the list. Note that this does not convert the document to this format. It simply indicates to anyone editing or downloading the document (see section 3.3 or section 6.1) the format of the document and should enable their computer to open it directly in the appropriate application.

Note
The system administrator can add extra MIME types to the drop-down list which appears on the "Add Document" and "Change Type" forms.
