7.1 What is web-based email?
The web-based email tool in Business Collaborator allows users to read and send email from their Business
Collaborator accounts, through a web browser. This has a number of advantages over traditional email tools
since users can:
-
access and send email from any computer (with a web browser)
-
access and send email from anywhere in the world
-
create attachments from files stored in Business Collaborator
-
extract attachments from their email and move them into a folder (i.e. upload documents via email)
This tool also provides groups of people working together with a shared email facility. Everyone can access
all the emails stored in the shared email folder and so everyone has access to a complete view of project
information, irrespective of the original recipient of the email (see section 7.5.1 for details of setting up a shared email folder).
In order to receive email using Business Collaborator, you must have an existing mail account with a server and
you must be able to access this account via the POP3 protocol. If you are unsure whether you have such an
account, check with your system administrator - you will also need to know your email user name and password, and
the name of the mail server.
